Delete Your Data or Account

This page explains how to request deletion of specific data, or of your entire DayHerder account, and what happens to your information in each case. DayHerder is a trade name of Drover Systems LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. It is a shared business tool for ranching and farming operations, so please read the sections on what is deleted and what is kept before you begin.

1. Delete Specific Data Without Closing Your Account

You do not have to delete your account to remove data. You can delete individual records at any time while keeping your account active.

1.1 In the App

Sign in to the DayHerder app and remove individual items directly:

  • Open a note and choose Delete Note to remove it.
  • Open a note, task, or animal record and use Remove photo to delete a photo you attached.
  • Void a treatment record you entered.
  • Delete a map note you placed.

1.2 By Email

To request deletion of other personal information we hold about you, email privacy@dayherder.com and describe what you would like removed. We may need to verify your identity before we act on the request, and we will respond as required by applicable law. Some information must be retained as described in Section 3, and records that belong to a business operation may require that operation's involvement before they can be changed.

2. Delete Your Entire Account

2.1 In the App (Fastest)

If you can sign in, delete your account directly from the mobile app:

  1. Open the DayHerder app and sign in.
  2. Go to More, then Delete Account.
  3. Enter your current password and confirm Delete My Account.
  4. Most accounts are deleted right away. If you are the only administrator or the billing manager for an active subscription, your request is recorded and completed within 30 days, once another administrator is in place. This safeguard keeps your operation from being left without anyone able to manage it.

An internet connection is required to submit and complete a deletion request.

2.2 By Email (If You Cannot Sign In)

If you no longer have access to the app or cannot sign in, email support@dayherder.com from the address on your account with the subject line “Delete my account.” We may need to verify your identity before we act on the request. Verified requests are completed within 30 days.

2.3 What Deleting Your Account Removes

When your account deletion is completed, we remove or irreversibly obscure:

  • Your name, email address, and login credentials.
  • Your session, password-reset, and push-notification tokens.
  • Your entry in your operation's user directory.

You will no longer be able to sign in, and you will stop receiving notifications. Changes on your device that have not finished uploading, and photos stored only on your device, are also removed from that device.

3. What Is Kept, and For How Long

Whether you delete specific records or your whole account, some information is kept because other members of your operation rely on it or because the law requires it.

  • Business records you created or updated (animals, treatments, notes, herd and sale records) belong to your ranch operation and remain available to it.
  • Animal and livestock records are retained for seven (7) years to support recordkeeping consistent with United States Department of Agriculture Animal Disease Traceability requirements, and longer where otherwise required by law.
  • Historical activity logs, backups and archives, and payment records held by our payment processor may retain limited personal information for legal, audit, and fraud-prevention purposes.

Full retention periods and the legal basis for each are described in Sections 7 and 8 of our Privacy Policy.

4. Deletion Does Not Cancel Billing

Deleting data or a user account does not cancel your operation's subscription or stop billing. Subscription cancellation is a separate action taken by an account administrator through billing management in the app or by contacting support@dayherder.com.

5. Questions

If you have questions about deleting your data or account, or about how we handle your information, contact us at support@dayherder.com or, for privacy-specific requests, privacy@dayherder.com.
